Day 1

Arr. to Tbilisi international airport

Overnight in Tbilisi

Day 2

After Breakfast we will drive from Tbilisi to Kutaisi. On our way to Kutaisi we will visit Gori – home town of Stalin. First we will cave town Uplistsikhe situated in along the historical Silk Road. The natural caves firs were used for the dwelling purpose in the VI C BC. The main part of the town was built in the Antic time.

After Uplistsikhe we will have a lunch in the traditional restaurant where we can taste the traditional dishes of the region Kartli – Chicken soup – Chikhirtma and Kabab, Georgian dumplings – Tolma.

After lunch we will drive to Kutaisi – the second biggest city of Georgia, which was the capital of Georgia in the 9-11 centuries. Kutaisi is the main town of the region Imereti,Upon arrival we will visit Sataplia caves near Kutaisi

We will have a dinner in Kutaisi and taste the typical food of the region, first of all Khachapuri – dough with cheese, Mkhali – different vegetables with nuts, corn bread Chadi with Imeretiancheeseand chicken in the garlic souse – Chkmeruli

Day 3

After breakfast we will have city tour in Kutaisi, visit Bagrati Cathedral, built in the XI C and recently renovated. After visiting Bagrati, we will drive to visit Monastery of Gelati, founded by the king David the builder. The Greatest king of Georgia himself is buried in the entrance to the Monastery.

After Gelati we will drive to Svaneti region via Zugdidi.

Zugdidi is the main town of Samegrelo region, where we can taste the Mengrelian food. Highlights of this lunch are: MengrelianKhachapuri, cheese sulguni, corn porridge – Ghomi andKharcho – soup with meat and nuts.

From Zugdidi we will drive to the North, pass the beautiful Enguri Lake and drive up to the main town of Svaneti Region – Mestia. The road itself is already part of the sightseeing. It lies along the river Enguri and leads us throw the Great Caucasus Mountains to the most secret region of watching towers of Georgia – Svaneti.

Day 4

After Breakfast our cars 4X4 are waiting for us and will take us to the maybe most impressive place in Georgia – Ushguli. Ushguli is the highest inhabited point in Europe and is situated about 2300 m over the sea level. One of the parts of this unique village is on the list of UNESCO world cultural heritage because of its watching towers form the 11th and 12th centuries which were even never renovated. We also will visit small church – Lamaria (Lamaria is the name of St. Maria in the local language) and if the weather is nice we also will be able to enjoy the beautiful view of  Shkhara – one of the highest picks of the Great Caucasus.

In Ushguli we have lunch in the local family where you can see how to make Svanetian type of Khachapuri – Kubdari (Dough with meat)

In the evening we will drive back to Mestia

Day 5

After Breakfast we will drive to Batumi – sea side resort of the Black sea. Batumi is the capital of Adjara autonomy and became the one of the most beautiful cities in Georgia after renovations during the last years.

On our way we will pass Zugdidi and have possibility to taste more dishes form the Mengrelian kitchen like Satsivi – Turkey hen in nut souse, Kupati – mengrelian sausage and Kuchmachi

Upon arrival we will check in at the hotel and have a dinner in the family in one of the villages near Batumi. Here we can taste traditional Adjarian dishes like Chakondrili  - meat with savory , and cake Pakhlava – which is the Adjarian sort of the famous Turkish desert.

Day 6

After Breakfast we will visit botanical gardens in Batumi, visit new and old boulevards, Fortress Gonio and Medea Square.

Lunch will be dedicated to the AdjarianKhachapuri and Borano – traditional Adjarian dishes. After lunch we will have free time in Batumi and in the evening we will have a dinner in the Fish restaurant in Batumi.

After dinner we will enjoy dancing fountains show in the new boulevard.

Day 7

After breakfast at the hotel we willchange our vehicle to minibuses and drive from Batumi to Akhaltsikhe by minibuses via Goderdzi pass. This beautiful pass is unique place, because here you can find relict forest. We will have picnic lunch on our way.

Upon arrival to Akhaltsikhe we will visit newly renovated Rabat fortress and drive to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 8

In the morning we will drive to visit famous cave town Vardzia. Vardzia was built in the XII Century by Georgian Kings George the III and his daughter Tamar and is the biggest among 3 cave towns which still exist in Georgia.

After visiting Vardzia we will drive to the village, where we can see how the sorts of Georgian cheese – Chechili and Tenili are made.

After lunch in the village we will drive to Borjomi, visit Mineral water’s park. We will have dinner in the local restaurant in Borjomi and taste fish –Tsotskhali and wild mushrooms.

Then we will drive to Bakuriani – ski resort in the lesser Caucasus and overnight

Day 9

After breakfast we will drive to Tbilisi via Mtskheta – Old capital of Georgia

Before Mtskheta we will visit local family winery for wine tasting and light lunch. During the lunch we will taste Mkhlovani – Dough with cheese and vegetables, Khinkali – Georgian Dumplings, Mtsvadi – Georgian Barbeque, fried Quail and taste the home made Qvevri wine. You can see how all these diches are made and participate also. We also can taste Georgian sweet – Gozinaki, (nuts and honey) which is always made for the New Year.

After lunch and wine tasting we will visit old capital of Georgia – Mtskheta, which is UNESCO site with its 2 magnificent churches Jvari and Svetitskhoveli.

Exceptional location of Jvari Church (VI C) gives beautiful view on the city itself. After visiting Jvari we will visit the Holiest church of Georgia – Svetitskhoveli (XI C) were the robe of Christ is buried.

After visiting Mtskheta we will drive to Tbilisi

Day 9

After breakfast we will drive to Kakheti, the main wine region of Georgia. This day we will drive to the main wine region of Georgia – Kakheti.

 First we will visit cozy town Sighnaghi. Sighnaghi is the medieval city, which is declared the city-museum currently and is located on the hill and looks over Alazani Valley. From Sighnaghi you can enjoy the fascinating views of Alazani Valley, which is the one of the most important places for wine cultivating

We will have possibility to taste different sorts of Georgian wine in the winery “Pheasant’s tears» by Jon Wurdemann’s vinery. We have traditional Kakhetian lunch, taste Sheep soup Bozbashi, Lobio – beans, sheep and vegetables barbeque

After the lunch we will drive to Gremi, visit festinating fortress and then visit local family for traditional dinner tasting Boiled beef – KhashlamaShila – rice with sheep meat, chakafuli – lamb meat with herbs and tarragon, Ojaxuri – beef with potatoes and catfish with coriander souse. We will also have possibility to see how to make Chacha – Georgian Grappa and can taste it. We also will see how to make Churchkhela – Georgian sweets with nuts and wine grapes juice.

Day 10

For the breakfast we will have traditional dishes, which Georgians use to eat, when they have hang over. This are Khashi – soup form hoofs and stomach of the cow, already well known Khinkali and Lula kebab.

After breakfast we will visit sightseeing around Telavi: Cathedral Alaverdi (VI-XI CC),“Tsinandali” – summer house and winery of the famous Georgian poet Alexander Chavchavadze. He was one of the most popular people in the beginning of the 19th C; every honored guest was invited to his family. Her daughters were known for their beauty and cleverness. Tsinandali is famous for its wine collection and enothek. The oldest wine in its collection dates back to the beginning of the 19th C.

Afterwards we will drive to Tbilisi, on the way we will stop and see how the people in the villages make Georgian bread and taste it with the home made cheese.

On our way we will give you questionnaires, where you can rate the dishes you taste during your trip and according to the rating we will compose the menu of the dinner.

Day 11

After breakfast we will start city tour in Tbilisi. Tbilisi has quite long 1500 years history as a capital. Foundation of the city is related with the famous Tbilisi Baths – natural spring waters with sulfur. Baths’ district is nowadays the heart of the old town Tbilisi. During our city tour we will visit this famous baths, also XVII C. Metekhi church situated on Metekhi Plateau. From plateau you can see Georgian, Armenian and Catholic churches, also Jewish Synagogue and Muslim Mosque side by side as a symbol of Georgian tolerance. We also visit Narikala fortress, Cathedral Sameba – which is the highest Orthodox Church and the oldest church of Tbilisi – Anchiskhati (VI-VII C). Next to the Anchiskhati is the oldest café of Tbilisi – “café Gabriadze” named after the famous Georgian film maker RezoGabriadze.

Lunch free

We also visit the main avenue of Tbilisi – Rustaveli Avenue with the buildings of almost all the types of European Architecture of the 19th century.  We will visit National Museum of Georgia as well.

Dinner we will have in the restaurant, where you can taste the modern interpretation of the traditional Georgian dishes.

Free day in Tbilisi and transfer to the airport
